CEO interview
- Q: Would you mind telling us about Nippon Refine’s past and future prospects?
-
A: For more than 50 years since its establishment in 1966, Nippon Refine has been contributing to society through solvent recycling by balancing environmental issues such as resource prolongation and environmental conservation with economic efficiency.
With our extensive experience and expertise in distillation and engineering technologies, we are confident in our ability to make significant contributions towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. We believe that our accumulated knowledge and capabilities in these fields will play a vital role in realizing this ambitious goal.
- Q: How should we go about solving global environmental challenges?
-
A: We anticipate that future efforts toward decarbonization will drive the adoption of circular economy practices across the entire supply chain in order to address global environmental challenges. The visualization of CO2 emissions throughout the product life cycle highlights the need for companies to prioritize decarbonization alongside cost and quality considerations.
Taking the perspective of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), it is foreseeable that there will be a growing emphasis on recovering as many valuable components as possible from combustion waste by reusing used organic solvents. Additionally, it is conceivable that the shift from fossil fuel-derived organic solvents to those sourced from terrestrial resources will eventually occur, considering their widespread use across diverse industries.
From a logistics standpoint, there is a growing likelihood of further exploration of on-site resource recycling instead of relying on off-site recycling that involves transportation. The advancements in DX (Digital Transformation) are anticipated to fuel these developments, aligning with the ongoing trend in the electronics industry towards increased resolution and density.
- Q: Can you share with us your vision for the future of Nippon Refine?
-
I anticipate that in the future of manufacturing across various industries, these decarbonization efforts will pave the way for the development of unprecedented innovative materials and production technologies. While we have been striving to fulfill the demands of our customers in the electronic materials industry, we recognize the importance of intensifying our corporate endeavors to meet their evolving needs.
We are eager to establish close partnerships with diverse industries and companies that utilize organic solvents. Our goal is to enhance collaboration and address their specific requirements more effectively than ever before.
We deeply value your ongoing interest in and support for Nippon Refine.
