Continuous liquid-liquid extractor

Overview and characteristics

Liquid-liquid extraction is a method for separating a substance dissolved in one liquid from another immiscible liquid, like hydrocarbons and water, based on their equilibrium interactions.

The theory of liquid-liquid extraction

The packed tower type continuous liquid-liquid extractor developed by Nippon Refine enabled of multiple towered continuous extraction, has a sufficient separation capability even at locations with installation height restrictions, and the type and material of packing can be easily changed. To further improve extraction performance, a pulsation device is also provided to adjust the amplitude and period of vibration (Patent No. 7153110).

Equipment

Except for the pilot set, liquid-liquid extractor has also been located at 1F~2F atrium as lab extractor, thus the test environment is available.

Actual results

The tower type continuous liquid-liquid extractor suitable for energy and space saving high-volume processing has achieved many successful results in organic acid separation from wastewater and alcohol separation from hydrocarbons.

Liquid-liquid extractor is also compatible with the distillation process, therefore separation difficult to achieve by distillation alone can be realized economically by combining with an extractor.
